Windy Corner Consultation
A Public consultation was held by the GRA in the Village Institute Hall on the Windy Corner proposals, on Saturday 12th November and Sunday 13th November from 10am to 4pm. Four proposals for changes to Windy Corner were displayed and over 200 people provided their feedback by answering a questionaire.
The four proposals displayed were: (Click on title to see a plan)
Option 1 :
Extending left-hand lane from Brixham to the ring-road, to start from the War memorial.
(taking 1519sq m of common land from War Memorial side - reducing the area of higher quality grassland and hay crop)
Option 2 :
Using part of Bascombe Road for Brixham-bound traffic, linking this to the existing Dartmouth Road by construction of a new road.
Existing road from War Memorial to Windy Corner will be used for Paignton bound traffic and the Ring-road.
(taking 1138sq m of lower quality grassland from common land on seaward side)
Extending left-hand lane from Brixham to the ring-road, to start from the War memorial, as in option 1. But road slightly re-aligned towards seaward side of the Common.
(taking 754sq m of Common Land predominantly from War Memorial side - reducing the area of higher quality grassland and hay crop)
New Proposed scheme by a resident: make 2 lanes at the Windy Corner Junction traffic lights, going to and from Paignton
(Takes no common, but cuts into verges at the junction)
